Very low incidence of forming a clot
Deep Vein
Thrombosis (DVT) is a multi-factorial disease
Thrombophilia present in up to 50% of cases of DVT, especially spontaneous Attributable risk is small Routine Screening Does not alter prognosis Does not alter management Current guidelines recommend a limited role for selective testing Absence of identified defect does not equal absence of thrombophilia Limited positive predictive value for recurrence Patient’s history is the most important determinant of prognosis/ previous clot work them up ![]()
