FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana''s NewsCenter) - Do you eat all the right things and exercise, but still have those stubborn areas of fat that just won''t go away? A new procedure could have you bikini-ready without ever going under the knife.
It''s just been in the media a lot lately - on the Internet, says Tracy Sheefel during a visit to Fort Wayne''s Medical Spa.

It''s called Cool Sculpting, and unless you want to drive to bigger cities like Indianapolis, Dr. Marcus Jimenez at Fort Wayne''s Medical Spa is the only doctor performing this non-invasive procedure that dissolves fat by freezing it.
This is the future of what people want. People want less invasive procedures while maximizing the results, says Dr. Jimenez. It''s really an exciting development and something, I think, that''s going to apply to a lot of folks out there, says Dr. Marcus Jimenez.
While Dr. Jimenez says just about everyone will see a 20 to 40 percent reduction in targeted fat after just one procedure, he says applications work best on patients between five and 50 pounds from their ideal body weight.
Multiple procedures can intensify the results, but patients like Sheefel are hoping one trip does the trick.
Why am I doing it? All women have a little trouble spot - especially the love handle area. Diet and exercise just doesn''t really touch it, she says. Invasive surgery provides a more invasive type surgery and down time, and I can''t afford to be off work. I have a family to take care of, so this was the way to go for me.
Cool Sculpting takes between one and three hours, and people can usually return to work the same day. Online reviews, however, have indicated there may be some pain in the treated area for several days or weeks following the application.
Basically, what the machine does, is it suctions a portion of tissue up into, basically, a large suction cup. There are two cooling pads on each side of that suction cup that freeze that fat to a specific temperature - the temperature where fat will freeze, but the water based cells - muscle, nerves, skin - overlaying that fat do not freeze.
Sheefel knows it won''t remove as much fat as liposuction, but says Cool Sculpting is a good alternative because there is no scarring or incision.
How much can you expect to pay for Cool Sculpting? At the Medical Spa in Fort Wayne, you''ll pay between $700 and $1,400 per application. Nationally, the average is about $1,700.
